He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me.

While I was driving, a thought came to my mind. God rescued me while I deserved to be cast out to hell. I said aloud, “I know!” I then said, “why would God rescue me or any of us yet to throw us away?” Then the voice inside of me said exactly, that is what the enemy wants you to believe. The verse above was written as part of a song David sung to praise God from saving him from his enemies. Do you believe that God is delighted in you? Do not look at the trials in your life to answer this question.

Answer me when I call to you, my righteous God. Give me relief from my distress; have mercy on me and hear my prayer.

Father God! We come before you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Please help us see your presence amid our trials and victories. Father, we know that true deliverance from our distress only comes from you.  Heavenly Father! We don't deserve your mercy and your deliverance. There is nothing we can do to earn relief during trials in our lives. Father, we feel surrounded by our enemies at every corner.

For You are my rock and my fortress; Therefore, for Your name’s sake, Lead me and guide me.

Each of our journey with God is different.  What does it mean to you when you read God is your “rock and fortress?”  This is my scripture for the year 2024.  Yes! Every year, as I am led by the spirit, I choose a theme scripture and from the theme scripture I meditate on a phrase that helps me focus on my spiritual journey for the year.  This year did not start as I normally expected.  Well! Neither did the end of 2023. Can you relate how God sometimes change your

How good and pleasant it is when God's people live together in unity!

Unity (Yachad- Hebrew) can be translated as altogether. The word unity or unify is often used in different settings. I often hear the word unity used in the church setting. Jesus, in John chapter 17:20-23, prayed for his disciples and future disciples who will believe in him to become one.  As I read Jesus’ prayer asking God to allow all his followers to become one, it leads me to ask, what was the purpose and vision that Jesus saw as he prayed that prayer?

Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him.

I often hear some parents say my child was a mistake and they did not plan to have a child out of wedlock. Or a parent going as far as telling a child you are a mistake, or I was not ready for you!  Yes, in our disobedience to the word of God and living under the authority of the flesh (sinful nature- Romans 8:6-8), we make mistakes.  And, even in our disobedience God blesses us with rewards. Children are rewards, they are not the reason your life is not what you want it to be.  Stop blame-shifting

Fear the Lord, you his holy people, for those who fear him lack nothing. The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.

Have you ever gotten to a point in your life as a disciple of Jesus Christ where you feel weak and empty? This passage was given to me on a day that I needed the reminder that my weakness and hunger or feeling of emptiness is the result of my lack of fear of the Lord Jesus Christ. David was in a very vulnerable situation when this Psalm was written because he was facing what could have been his death. Yet, he credited his victory

But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high. I call out to the LORD, and he answers me from his holy mountain.  I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the Lord sustains me.

As I read this scripture, I picture myself in the middle of a war zone that I must go through to make it to my destination.  As I am traveling through that war zone that seems never ending, I am in protective armor that protects me from all weapons fired at me by the enemy.  The war zone,

When hard pressed, I cried to the Lord; he brought me into a spacious place.  The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?

Who and what do you turn to as you face hardship in your life?  Every solution that is offered by our society is temporary.  Oftentimes, most solutions that the world offers to our problems are conditional. God is the only solid and genuine solution to all our hardships without any condition. Whether we messed up or misused his solutions or blessings, he still loves us and seeks a relationship with us. When God is on your side your

Taste and see that ADONAI is good; How blessed are those who take refuge in him!

Tasting can be a life changing experience. Some tastes can lead you to a positive or negative life experience. What have you tasted in your life? How has it been going for you? The psalmist is inviting you to taste God as your choice of food or drinks.  Oftentimes, you hear people say I became addicted after I tried……. once, you fill in the blank. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.

When you woke up this morning, was God's word the first in your mind?  We live in a busy and stressful society where our heart and mind are always being tugged in different directions. Hiding God's Word in our heart takes being persistent and intentional. Jesus exemplifies the importance of hiding God's word in our heart so that we can stand strong against the devil’s schemes throughout our testing times in this world (Mark 1:35, Mathew 4:1-11).If we do not hide the Word of God in our heart, we
