Revelation 19:13

“He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and His name is the Word of God.”

The Word Who Came… and the Word Who Will Return”

This week, people all over the world will celebrate Christmas, the day Christians pause to remember the birth of Jesus.

But I want to ask you a deeper question: What does the birth of Jesus truly mean to you?

Yes, the Word of God became flesh.
He walked among us.
He taught us how to live a transformed life that honors God.
But His story did not end in a manger.
He carried a cross, died for our sins, and rose again, the victory we celebrate each Spring on Easter.

Yet there is another holy day, one that is rarely acknowledged, yet it completes both Christmas and Easter.

It is the day Jesus returns for His people.
He spoke of this day in both John and Matthew, the day when He will come back, gather His elect, and bring us home to be with Him forever.

And my friend… that is my favorite holiday.
I celebrate it every day.
Some mornings I wake up and ask, “Lord, is today the day?”

Because the joy of Christmas, God sending His Son, reaches its full meaning only when Jesus returns to finish what He started.

The same Word that came to save us will one day judge, redeem, rescue, and restore.
The same child in the manger grew up, lived a holy life, died for our sins, rose from the grave, ascended into heaven, and is now preparing a place for all who belong to Him.

And one day, the heavens will open…

Revelation 19:11–21 — The Returning King

I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice He judges and wages war. His eyes are like blazing fire, and on His head are many crowns. He has a name written on Him that no one knows but He Himself. He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and His name is the Word of God.

The armies of heaven were following Him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. Coming out of His mouth is a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. He will rule them with an iron scepter. He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. On His robe and on His thigh He has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

And I saw an angel standing in the sun, who cried in a loud voice to all the birds flying in midair: “Come, gather together for the great supper of God, so that you may eat the flesh of kings, generals, and the mighty, of horses and their riders, and the flesh of all people, free and slave, great and small.”

Then I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies gathered together to wage war against the rider on the horse and His army. But the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet who had performed the signs on its behalf. With these signs he had deceived those who received the mark of the beast and worshiped its image. The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur. The rest were killed with the sword that came out of the mouth of the rider on the horse, and all the birds gorged themselves on their flesh.

Reflection

My friend, Christmas is worth celebrating — Jesus came to save us.
But the true joy behind Christmas is not fully realized until His return.

For on that day, every chain will break.
Every lie of Satan will be silenced.
Every enemy of God will fall.
And every believer will stand safely in the glory of the King who came once in humility… and will come again in victory.

Being free from Satan’s grip and living forever in the presence and glory of Jesus, that is the real joy of Christmas!
