Weekly Reflection

Hebrews 10:23 NIV

Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.

Have you found yourself working hard to remain focused on the promises of God?  Let’s be real! Saying that God is faithful and trusting God’s faithfulness during trials are very different.  Jesus understood how much faith it takes for us to hold on to God’s promise when he addressed doubting Thomas.  Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed” (John20:29).

When we are tempted to lose hope and not hold on to God’s promises, or when  our faith is under attack, ponder on the fact that you only see what is before you and we serve a God who sees the beginning and the end of your story, “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty” (Revelation 1:8).  If we have been baptized and surrendered our life to God, our old self died. Therefore, we have been given the gift to have our lives hidden through Christ in God, (Colossians 3:3). When we are tempted to doubt God’s faithfulness, pray for HIM to open our eyes to see beyond what the circumstances might be. I have been amazed at how much God has allowed me to see beyond my naked eyes each time that I have prayed this simple prayer that has calmed my anxious heart and reaffirmed my hope and faithfulness in my walk with God.
