Ezra 1:1 NIV
In the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, in order to fulfill the word of the Lord spoken by Jeremiah, the Lord moved the heart of Cyrus king of Persia to make a proclamation throughout his realm and also to put it in writing:
God’s words and promises are true and will always come to past! Have you found yourself doubting God in your life? I know that I have done it so many times. In my doubting season, I never doubt if he can do it, but will he do it for me? Or question why is he not doing it? There is so much that we can learn from the book of Ezra. Nonetheless, I was led by the Holy Spirit to read chapter one and verse one which resonated with my personal journey with Jesus Christ. In the past year as I watched so much chaos happening in the world, I have found myself fighting to defuse Satan's lies in my mind about God’s promises, sovereignty and trusting his words as truth.
When the Israelites were allowed to be captured because of their disobedience toward God and were bound to slavery in Babylon, I can imagine the number of doubts and confusion that they experienced. God again, despite their outright disobedience, kept his word as he had said through the prophet Jeremiah. The amazing part of the passage is the incredible demonstration of God’s limitless and infinite power over the heart and mind of men. The scripture says God "moved the heart of the King." I have two questions for you: Has God been moving your heart to allow yourself to be used as an influence for his purpose? Are you going through something in your life that seems impossible, and you feel defeated? Our God, through Jesus, has proven, “...Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you” Hebrews 13:5. God has every right to shut his door in our face but instead he sent Jesus as the entry door to cleanse us from our sins and take us back from Satan's captivity. Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" John 14:5. Whatever you are going through in this life, trust our Lord because in due time, your trouble will come to pass. Cry out to our God who can change the heart of men!
