Daniel 4:17-NKJV
‘This decision is by the decree of the watchers, And the sentence by the word of the holy ones, In order that the living may know That the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, Gives it to whomever He will, And sets over it the lowest of men.’
Happy New year to all God’s children! As we read how the power of the Almighty God manifested in many scenarios in King Nebuchadnezzar’s life, let’s ponder upon our own lives. How often does God do miracle after miracle in our lives by rescuing and blessing us and yet we continue to boast on our accomplishment and success as if we are the orchestrator of our life journey. The verse above was written by God to the king after God was fed up with his arrogance and lack of humility. He did not acknowledge that it was Jehovah who was working in his life and allowed him to succeed during his reign.
God’s anger was against King Nebuchadnezzar’s insolence and lack of gratitude. This led God to strip him of his dignity and his dwelling became like a “beast of the field” (Daniel 4:32). As this new year begins, assess your life and your successes. Do you believe all you have has been given to you by the Most High and he can take it away? Don’t let your pride in your knowledge, riches, power, and comfortable life blind you to the true giver of all things. Don’t let God humble you like he did to Nebuchadnezzar for you to acknowledge all that you have are gifts from our creator. The scripture says the King, “…raised my eyes toward heaven and his sanity was restored. Then I praised the Most High; I honored and glorified him who lives forever” (Daniel 4:34-NIV). Honor God as your provider and sustainer of all things in your life, whether it’s little or much. King Nebuchadnezzar was blessed to have been disciplined by God on this earth, but you might not have the same opportunity like the Rich man in Luke 16:19-31.
