Weekly Reflection

Proverbs 16:1 NLT

We can make our own plans, but the Lord gives the right answer.

Have you ever made plans and believed your decisions were justified?  Or do you make plans that seem right for reasons that are noble or selfless?  Yet, despite your good or noble reasons for making the decisions it often feels that everything is going against you. The plans you have made are developing differently from what you pictured or anticipated.  As a result, you get frustrated; you prayed, you bargain with God or doubt yourself and sometimes blame others around you.

Through it all, you begin to feel that you are drowning and decide to surrender to God and trust that even in the midst of your doubts and confusion that God will answer or come through according to his will.  This scripture resonates with me because no matter how many times God has shown me, he has the final say. I often forget that he is Lord of my life.  I have found that the more I fight to make my plans become a reality instead of relying on God, the more frustrated and defeated I feel.  But when I surrender to God’s will and trust him, his answer and provisions are always on time and perfect.  There are times His answer is no and there are times it’s not yet and there are times the answer is yes. In verse 9 of the 16th Chapter, it reads “we can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.”  I have learned that God’s right answer regarding my plans is not always what I want to hear or see but he has never let me down.  Everything in my life that God has answered, when I look back, have not made sense immediately but later I realized his answers are always what I need in my life.  What plans have you made that you are waiting for an answer from God?  Don’t give up, he is always on time with the right answer!
