1 John 4:18 NLT

"Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love."

Led by Love, Not Fear: A Call to Spiritual Rest

Have you fully embraced the love that Jesus offers you through His grace and mercy? This love is not something we earned; it is a pure and unconditional gift that restores us to what we were created to be.

What does it mean to you when you read and hear Jesus say:
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28, NIV).

Are you truly living in the serenity of God’s rest, or are you merely going through the motions of believing in Him while doubting His promises through your daily thoughts and actions?

I know fear is something I have to fight daily. Yes, fear is a demonic force that, if allowed, will lead you away from God's rest. Unless we recognize the influence and power of fear, it will quietly and subtly pull us into disobedience against God.

Fear often moves unnoticed, guiding our physical, mental, and emotional well-being, especially if we carry unresolved trauma, such as the pain of rejection. If you’ve been made to believe you have no worth, fear can disguise itself as caution, control, or withdrawal.

I have not perfected the fight against fear, and I don’t believe I will until Jesus returns to take me home, or until I leave this decaying body. Nonetheless, through the power of His Word and the Holy Spirit, I have grown to recognize when my thoughts, reactions, spoken words, and decisions are being driven by fear.

Romans 8:15 is one of many scriptures that I hold onto to guard my mind, heart, and soul when the enemy’s demonic spirit of fear tries to lead me away from God’s truth:

“The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, ‘Abba, Father.’”Romans 8:15 (NIV)

I Invite You to Reflect on These Questions:

  • Are you being led by fear or by faith?
  • What areas of your life are shaped by natural fear rather than reverence for God?
  • Has fear caused you to compromise your values, delay obedience, or shrink back from your calling?
  • What decisions are rooted in control, anxiety, or doubt instead of trust in God?

Don’t let fear rob you of your resting place in God.

When your mind starts to race, your heart beats faster, worry makes you doubt, or people’s words and actions paralyze you—remember this:
Jesus has restored you through His blood to a state of spiritual perfection. You can overcome fear because His perfect love has already conquered it.

Anxiety, worry, and doubt, each connected to fear, can only dwell in your life if you have not fully believed the Word of Jesus.

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me.”John 14:1 (NIV)

Let His love anchor your soul. Let His promises guide your thoughts. And let your faith silence the voice of fear.
